RED WEDNESDAY

22nd November 2016

The Christian Heritage Centre at Stonyhurst supported the initiative led by Aid to the Church in Need UK, to stand in witness and solidarity with those persecuted for their faith around the world.  The team at the Christian Heritage Centre at Stonyhurst, are acutely aware of the colossal amount of religious persecution that has existed in the United Kingdom, and that while reminding people of their Christian Culture, must also highlight the sacrifice that has been made – and continues to be made – to maintain it.

The Red Wednesday initiate was spearheaded by the lighting up of Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Abbey in Red, the night before the London Launch of the Religious Freedom in the World Report in the House of Parliament in Westminster.  Along with the iconic churches of Westminster, churches, town halls, secular and religious buildings of different faiths supported and lit up their facades in red.
